Believe it or not, Speedway actually has a town ordinance on the books that makes it illegal to NOT recycle. According to the statute, if the trash man sees recyclables in your trash, they can turn you in to the town hall. Of course Scott asked if they've ever actually arrested or fined anyone for this major infraction, and they admitted that the trash men don't normally care enough to look around in there!
But they provide us a tub, we don't have to sort anything, and they pick it up with our regular trash pick-up at no cost to us!
So we may be the world headquarters for drunk redneck parties a couple times a year, but we're certainly green!

Our recycles have been in green rectangle bins. When they first started I spray painted a trash can green because I didn't have the bin. The trash people tossed the contents in their truck. Guess they didn't realize green and the word recycle.

Now they are switching to these huge containers a big truck will lift and dump. I better be sure to rinse out stuff very carefully. In fact I may have to wash them with the dishes. lol

Sounds pretty painless to me! Wish they'd do something like that in Avon....We did when we lived in Milwaukee. Now if we could all just use one square of toilet paper....
