Haarlem, Holland. The Germans have started what will become World War II. Corrie ten Boom lives with her father, sister Betsie, and several aunts above TEN BOOM WATCHES. Now, the Germans have taken Holland and begin persecuting the Jews, the infirm, and the aged. As the ten Booms begin sheltering those whom the Nazis will persecute, God begins to lead changes in their hearts. Through eventual arrest and captivity, Corrie learns that “when we’re feeling poorest–when we’ve lost a friend, when a dream has failed, when we seem to have nothing left in the world to make life beautiful–that’s when God says: You’re richer than you think.” –Elizabeth Sherrill (Since Then. Prologue to The Hiding Place).
