Review

Rating: 9

When Billy Bob Holland’s friend and client Johnny American Hourse is accused of murder, Billy Bob just has to help. The saga involves Wyatt Dixon who is recently released from prison for, among other things, burying Billy Bob’s wife Temple alive. Other characters include American Hourse’s girlfriend Amber Finley, the daughter of a U.S. Senator, Darrel McComb, a Missoula police detective who is obsessed with Amber, and Seth Masterson a government agent whose presence causes Billy Bob to wonder why the government is involved.

As the dead bodies pile up, Billy Bob runs into a more complex underlying crime and a greater danger to himself and recently pregnant Temple.

This novel is beautifully written, gripping, and fast moving, typical of James Lee Burke works.
