Site Problems

The site has been down since April 5. After much diddling around with various facets of the database and code, I finally deleted all the plugins. Apparently, WordPress updated itself and one or more of the plugins was incompatible with the current version of WordPress. Thus, a completely blank screen when visiting the site. I’m happy to say that the site is now back up. Now to the rigor of checking each plugin for compatibility.

Old Dad…the weather is back!

Adventures in Cruising

In a few hours, Mrs. Major and I are scheduled to join some of her PEO sisters in Sanford, Florida, for a riverboat cruise dinner-dance, presumably for Valentine’s Day. This is a BIL 1BILs are the husbands of the PEOs. I’m not sure what BIL stands for, if anything; except I’m sure it doesn’t stand for “brothers in lingerie”. At least I hope it doesn’t. event. It’s been on the books for several months.

The problem is, it’s been raining buckets 2Cats and dogs for hours and is forecast to be the same with temps around 40 degrees at launch time. Fortunately, I think the meal is served inside. At least I hope it is.

Global Warming MIA in Central Florida

Robellini Palm
Robellini Palm

Rats! For the fourth time we will have to cover our plants this winter. This is double the number of times per winter since we’ve moved to Florida in February 2004. In addition, the total number of freeze nights so far (including tonight) are 13. We usually have two. Whatever happened to global warming?

Of course it’s my fault. If we hadn’t bought two Robellini palms and had kept the hibiscus potted and indoors, I wouldn’t have to cover anything. Despite plant covers, the poinsettias are trash. Too late to cover them now.

I know all you folks who live north of the frost line are saying, “Whine, whine, whine.” But, hey, we moved south to get away from all that.
