No Wonder She’s Irresponsible

CNN.com – Lohan’s mother scolds exec over letter – Jul 31, 2006

Calling the letter “ridiculous,” Dina Lohan defended her daughter’s latest tardiness during the filming of “Georgia Rules” which resulted in a warning letter from James G. Robinson, CEO of Morgan Creek Productions.

This was not the first incident 1Her mother admits that it isn’t and concedes that at least one incident caused production to be scheduled around Lindsay’s absence. and Lindsay had probably already been verbally warned several times. It is quite usual in business to expect employees to be on time and to show up when scheduled. It’s also usual that excessive tardiness or absences result in termination (of the job not of the life). A company management can rightfully expect that employees will take responsibility for their own actions and fulfill their employment responsibilites. Lindsay certainly has not been the ideal employee.

Advice to Dina: Encourage your daughter to take responsibility for herself and to be a good employee.

Advice to Lindsay: Become a big star before you start acting like one. You might not be able to get a job.

CNN.com – ‘Survivor’ sent to Oklahoma prison – Jul 24, 2006

‘Survivor’ sent to Oklahoma prison

A federal jury convicted Hatch in January of failing to pay taxes on the “Survivor” prize and other income. He was sentenced in May to 51 months in prison by a judge who said the reality TV star had lied repeatedly on the witness stand.

Why should he start telling the truth now?

What’s With The Episcopal Church?

Cal Thomas has some very cogent remarks about the recent US Episcopal Church refusing to disavow ordination of openly, practicing homosexual bishops.

Read the article, then let me know what you think. Biblically, we’re commanded to love everyone, but we’re also commanded to repent of our sin (including practicing homosexuality).

Homosexuality is one of the sins that is clearly identified as sin. The old addage, “Hate the sin, love the sinner,” applies.

STDs Running Rampant In Retirement Community

Golf Cart Community

Local 6 News in Orlando, FL, reports that STDs are running rampant in my retirement community, The Villages. As my brother, Dan, says, “There must be a joke in here somewhere.”

As a youth leader in our church, we find that the biggest fear of teenagers in relation to sex is pregnancy. Their fear is mis-focused. Their greatest physical fear should be STDs. Pregnancy is not permanent and it’s fixable. Birth usually cures pregnancy, and I’ve know several teens who have made the pregnancy mistake and are now doing nicely, thank you.

Some STDs, however, are more permanent. In the 50’s there were three known STDs, today there are 30 and 30% of those are incurable. Some forms of STDs can make the STD sufferer sterile.

People who have multiple sexual partners (or those who have sex with someone who’s had multiple sex partners) are four times more likely to contract an STD than get pregnant. 1They’re 10 times more likely if they’re on birth control

Obviously, retired folk have the same mis-conception (pun intended) that teens do.
